Avoiding Pantry Pests
Plagued with pantry pests?
Here are a few tips to avoid them:
- Find the source of the infestation.
Check packages you seldom use, especially cereal, flour, raisins, spices,
pet food and bird seed.
- Wrap heavily infested packages
in a dense plastic bag and dispose of it.
- Heat or freeze susceptible
food packages after you have had them for 60 days.
- Store food in tightly-closed
glass, metal or plastic containers.
- Other things to look for
are small moths or beetles flying or crawling around the pantry area.
